Tour Overview
This short western Tanzania journey uses scheduled domestic flights to connect Dar es Salaam with Kigoma, then continues by boat along Lake Tanganyika to roadless Gombe Stream National Park. The programme makes room for an afternoon forest trek on arrival, a second chimpanzee tracking morning, Kakombe Waterfalls and Jane’s Peak when time and trail conditions permit. An Ujiji visit introduces the history of the Livingstone Memorial before the lake crossing.

Fly to Kigoma, Visit Ujiji and Continue by Boat to Gombe
Transfer to the Dar es Salaam airport for the scheduled flight to Kigoma. A local guide meets you on arrival and continues to Ujiji for the Livingstone Memorial before taking you to Kibirizi Port. Travel by boat across Lake Tanganyika to Gombe, settle into the park rest house and have a late lunch. The first ranger-led chimpanzee trek begins in the afternoon, with time to look for other forest primates and birds along the way.
Morning Chimpanzee Trek, Kakombe Waterfalls and Return to Kigoma
Begin tracking at about 08:30, following the ranger’s route through Gombe’s steep forest valleys. The exact walk depends on where the chimpanzees have moved. If time and trail conditions permit, continue to Kakombe Waterfalls and Jane’s Peak before returning for lunch. Later, take the boat back to Kigoma and transfer to your lakeside hotel.
Fly from Kigoma to Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, transfer from the Kigoma hotel to the airport in time for the return flight to Dar es Salaam. The tour ends on arrival in Dar es Salaam; an onward city or international-airport transfer can be confirmed with the final flight schedule.
