Tour Overview
This four-day route is built for travellers adding Gombe after Kilimanjaro or a northern Tanzania safari. A flight connects Arusha and Kigoma, followed immediately by the boat to Gombe so the first forest walk can take place that afternoon. Two further chimpanzee tracking sessions, Kakombe Waterfalls and Jane’s Peak are followed by a return boat to Kigoma and the Livingstone Memorial at Ujiji.

Fly Arusha to Kigoma, Boat to Gombe and First Forest Trek
Fly from Arusha to Kigoma in the morning. A LuiTours representative meets the flight and takes you directly to Kibirizi Port, avoiding an unnecessary town stop. Cross Lake Tanganyika by boat, check in and have a hot lunch before the first ranger-led chimpanzee trek. Return to the lodge for dinner after the forest activity.
Chimpanzee Trekking and Kakombe Waterfalls
Leave early with the park ranger and trackers, following fresh signs through the forest in search of Gombe’s chimpanzee community. After the permitted observation period, continue to Kakombe Waterfalls. If the trail, weather and timing permit, hike toward Jane’s Peak for its historical connection and broad view across the park and lake.
Final Chimpanzee Trek, Boat to Kigoma and Ujiji
Make a third forest excursion, exploring another valley according to the chimpanzees’ current location. Return for lunch, then travel by boat to Kigoma. On arrival, continue to Ujiji to visit the Livingstone Memorial and learn about the meeting of Livingstone and Stanley before checking in at the Kigoma hotel.

After breakfast, transfer to Kigoma Airport for the confirmed flight to Arusha or Dar es Salaam. The destination is agreed at booking so the final transfer connects cleanly with your northern Tanzania plans or international departure.
